With a warm and dry climate during all summer, well equipped marinas, multitude of anchorages and many charming small ports, the Greek islands are particularly suited for sailing charters. There are short distances between the islands so you may navigate visually most of the time. You will be charmed by the traditional villages, sublime beaches, antics, Byzantine churches and of course you will love the excellent Greek cuisine.

The Cyclades Islands

In the center and south of the Aegean Sea, the Cyclades have 39 islands of which only 24 are inhabited. During the summer, the climate is hot and very dry, with almost no rainfall. The seasonal wind « Meltem », pleasantly cools down the temperature. Lavrion, located 45 minutes away, south of Athens International airport, is an ideal departure point to sail in the Cyclades islands. Many services available in this marina: water, fuel and electricity, 2 supermarkets close by, lots of restaurants, cafés, taverns and bars around. Syros is the most populated island and its marina is located in the port of Ermoupolis, the capital of the Cyclades islands.

The Dodecanese and Sporades Islands

They consist of 12 large main islands. When sailing in this archipelago, you discover the most authentic part of Greece. Very little vegetation on these islands except on Kos and Rhodes thanks to their natural springs. The marina of Kos is 1.5 km away from the port. The marina of Rhodes is on the northern point of the island, at the foot of the medieval castle across from the market, at about 30 minutes ride from the airport. You have a large choice of cafés and restaurants in the Old Town. The Sporades Islands are one of the favorite destinations in Greece for the Greeks themselves. Skiathos is a green and peaceful island. Skopelos, Alonissos and Skyros, the main islands are mountainous with a dense vegetation. The marina of Skiathos is in the main port with a large choice of restaurants, cafés and bars on the waterfront.
