FAQ

What is the role of the skipper?

The skipper is in charge of the boat and the crew. He also plans the itinerary according to weather conditions, the duration of the cruise and your choice of activities. The skipper uses one of the cabins or front peak. The skipper’s food is paid by the client. Tips are appreciated, for example around 10% of rental price on luxury charters.

What is the role of the hostess-cook?

The hostess/cook is in charge of provisioning and meal preparation on board. She prepares menus according to a preference list completed by the client in advance or according to the provisioning available on board. She also takes care of keeping clean the main area of the boat (living room, kitchen, corridors). The hostess uses one of the cabins or front peak. The hostess’s meals are paid by the client. Tips are appreciated, for example around 10% of rental price on luxury charters.

Which equipment do we have onboard?

Boats equipment depends on charter companies and destinations. Verify what is included or not in the charter price, such as navigation equipment (autopilot, marine charts, VHF, life vests, dinghy, outboard), kitchen equipment (utensils, gas cooker, fridge) and linen.

How can do we provision?

Depending on destinations, provisioning may be ordered and delivered on board. This service is a great time saver! You may also get your groceries from local supermarkets and sometimes have them delivered on board.

For charters with hostess/cook, menus are established in advance according to a preference list. Depending on the type of cruise you have booked, provisioning and alcoholic beverages are to be paid upon boarding or included in the charter price.

What formalities must be completed ?

Before your trip, make sure you have all the documents required for your cruise (visa, vaccination certificates, authorizations, etc…). Each passenger must have a passport valid at least 6 months after the date of return. During your cruise, some itineraries require several customs/immigration clearances. These formalities are obligatory and fees may apply. Cruising permits must be purchased to sail in protected marine parks.

Which documents and procedures are required?

You must complete and sign the following documents: charter contract, crew list, passport copy, in case of charter without skipper you must send your navigation references (resume and/or permit copy and/or VHF license). The charter company must validate your sailing experience.

A deposit is required upon boarding (by credit card or cash) and you must comply with the yacht charter company procedures (inventories, payment of extras and options if any, etc…).

Do you provide ground service?

Depending on the destination, taxi transfers to/from the base may be arranged by the charter company, payment on spot.
